Grand Canyon Trust is planning to sue the Trump administration for not responding to a Freedom of Information Act request. The conservation group filed the request in August 2016.
Grand Canyon Trust requested information on what the government knows about federal coal leasing and climate change, as well as the royalties companies pay to mine coal on federal land.
The lawsuit targets Secretary of Interior Ryan Zinke and the Bureau of Land Management.
The deadline for responding to Freedom of Information Act requests is 20 days, but the August 2016 request for documents hasn’t been answered despite followup letters, emails, and phone calls.
