Military Service Members Get Pay Raise

President Donald Trump recently signed into law a bill that includes a 2.1 percent pay raise for members of the military.

In 2004, Congress voted to tie future military pay raises to the Employment Cost Index, or ECI, which measures private sector wages.

But over the past four years, the raises were less than that.

Col. Mike Barron, who is retired from the U.S. Army and currently director of policy and advocacy at the Military Officers’ Association of America, talked about the significance of this pay raise.

EDITOR'S NOTE: This story has been updated to correct the spelling of Col. Mike Barron's name.
