Arizona Children Will No Longer Need Permission To Bring Sunscreen To School

Beginning next fall, parents can send their kids to school with sunscreen without prior permission.

Gov. Doug Ducey signed a bill last week preventing schools, summer camps or child care facilities from banning federally approved sunscreen on campuses.

Normally, sunscreens are treated the same as medications and require a legally signed note for nurses to administer.

Republican Rep. Heather Carter authored the bill so children can use the lotion as needed to protect and cut down on the number of skin cancer cases.

She also sponsored legislation banning the use of indoor tanning beds for anyone under age 18. That measure never made it to a hearing.
