Members of Congress Weary Of Crises Surrounding Trump Administration

Republican pressure is mounting on President Trump as members of Congress are becoming weary of the crises surrounding the administration. That includes two prominent Arizonans, including the state’s senior U.S. Sen. John McCain.

At a dinner hosted by the International Republican Institute, McCain called the headlines surrounding the president an “unhappy situation” and that regardless of political leanings or support for Trump, the White House’s series of predicaments wasn’t good for America.

The mounting scandals, he feels, may be too much to overcome and seem to echo history.

"I think it’s reaching the point where it’s of Watergate size and scale and a couple of other scandals that you and I have seen. It’s a centipede, and the shoe continues to drop," McCain said.

McCain added that negative publicity was hamstringing the administration and Congress, and would likely hurt the GOP as a result.

The state’s other Republican U.S. Sen. Jeff Flake also expressed exasperation, telling reporters the Trump scandals were already harming their agenda.

In a tweet, Flake asked that Congress see the memo that fired FBI Director James Comey is said to have written about his meeting with the president in which he was reportedly asked to drop the investigation into former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn.
