A judge has ordered the unsealing of a key document in the "Serial Street Shooter" investigation, but parts of it may still be withheld.
Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Scott McCoy ruled in favor of a coalition of news organizations seeking access to what’s known as a Form IV, which is a court document that includes a probable cause statement on what led to the arrest of Aaron Saucedo in connection with the "Serial Street Shooter" case.
McCoy ordered the state to redact information that identifies victims. He also gave the state the option to redact parts of the document it considers sensitive. But if the state does, lawyers have to file a separate sealed affidavit outlining any specific harms that may be caused by disclosure.
McCoy will then review the additional redactions and decide if the information should be released.
Police arrested Aaron Saucedo, 23, earlier this month in connection with the case. Saucedo faces 26 separate felony counts, all related to shootings from 2015 and 2016.
