Tohono O'odham Nation, Arizona Settle Long-Running Legal Dispute Over West Valley Casino

The state and Tohono O’odham Nation have settled the ongoing legal dispute over the tribe’s West Valley casino.

Arizona will allow the Tohono O’odham to open a full-scale gaming operation, and in exchange, the tribe agreed to not try to open any more casinos in the Phoenix metro area.

Verlan Jose is vice chairman of the Tohono O’odham Nation.

Jose says he expects to have the full resort and casino up and running “soon.”

For more background on this long-running battle, we turn to Mike Sunnucks of The Phoenix Business Journal.
