The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office has been allotted an operating budget of $103.5 million.
The Board of Supervisors says more than half of the budget is going toward public safety and criminal justice expenses. More than $3 million will go to fund increases in retirement contributions. And $1.3 million is budgeted for overtime and related costs.
MCSO will getting funding for new technology like servers, mobile data computers and data storage. New radios and additional Tasers were also funded.
The Board of Supervisors also approved more than $82 million in capital spending for the design and construction of a new jail and intake facility. The new jail will replace the Durango jail and will have 1,280 beds. The new intake facility will have 512 beds.
