Grand Canyon University hired former Phoenix Police Chief Joe Yahner as the school’s director of public safety.
Yahner retired last year after more than 30 years with the department and two as police chief.
He will oversee GCU’s 170-member campus security force. In addition to those, the school is still partnered with Phoenix police in a million-dollar, five-year effort to reduce crime in the surrounding west Phoenix neighborhood.
