AARP Ad Targets Flake, Senators To Vote Against AHCA

AARP launched a new ad campaign this week targeting several U.S. Republican Senators, including Jeff Flake. Their message is simple: vote no on the American Health Care Act.

Turn on the TV and you might see this ad. It’s aimed at five key senators, including Jeff Flake, who is up for re-election in 2018.

Alex Juarez is with AARP Arizona. He says Flake has expressed reservations about the health-care bill, and the organization hopes the seven-figure ad buy will convince him to vote no.

American and Arizonas older than 50 would be able to be charged at higher rate. Right now currently there is a 3-to-1 ratio, this could go to 5-to-1 depending on the state.

As for U.S. Sen. John McCain, who was re-elected last year, Juarez says AARP is reaching out to him using other forms of communication.

KJZZ reached out to Flake’s office for comment on the ad. His office has yet to respond.
