Technology, Ethics Meet In Debate Over 'Virtual' Actors

We’ve all seen commercials where an old piece of footage — or maybe an actor who’s no longer alive — is in a more modern-day setting.

The technology to allow filmmakers and others in the entertainment world to use actors who are not actually on set is improving quickly — but with that comes a number of ethical questions.

Todd Richmond, director of Mixed Reality Lab and Studio at the USC Institute for Creative Technologies, talked about how producers use the technology.
