The summer movie blockbuster is just taken for granted now — whether it’s a sequel, a comic book movie, or a reboot of a popular character. And it’s fairly predictable which films are going to have huge opening weekends at the box office.
But until "Jaws" hit the screens in 1975, the summer blockbuster wasn’t really characterized as a known entity.
To learn more about movie blockbusters and what this summer looks like, we spoke with Kevin Sandler, an associate professor in ASU’s Film and Media Studies program.
