The Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management will restrict campfires, smoking and fireworks in three more counties starting Thursday.
The restrictions apply to all state owned and state managed lands in Maricopa, Gila and Yavapai counties.
State Forester Jeff Whitney said several fires started over the Memorial Day weekend, coupled with vegetation that’s drying out led to the decision.
Fire restrictions are already in place in eight southern Arizona counties.
