A former state governor from Mexico wanted on corruption-related charges was arrested in Panama, Mexican authorities said on Monday.

According to the federal Attorney General’s Office, Roberto Borge, who served a six-year term as governor of Quintana Roo ending in 2016, was taken into custody at an airport in Panama, just as he was waiting to board a plane to Paris.

In February, Mexican prosecutors confiscated 25 former state properties that they said were worth $250 million. Multiple local media reports have linked Borge to the deals.

The other two former governors arrested this year have been accused of using the United States as a safe haven. Javier Duarte of Veracruz has been connected to real estate investments in the United States — including in Scottsdale — and Tomas Yarrington has been indicted on money laundering charges in Texas.
