The Arizona Department of Economic Security — or DES — has more than 7,000 employees who handle the state’s clients in categories as broad as unemployment, child care and adult protective services.
Earlier this month, DES got a new director. His name is Michael Trailor, and he had served as the state’s Director of Housing since 2009.
We spoke with Trailor about the challenges of the position, including the uncertainty related to attempts to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act.
