The International Olympic Committee has done something out of the ordinary as it decides which cities will host the 2024 and 2028 Summer Olympic Games.
Los Angeles and Paris are the finalists, but it isn’t known which city will host in which year.
The U.S. hasn’t hosted the Summer games since 1996 in Atlanta, and Los Angeles was the host city in 1984. If L.A. is the victor for the 2024 games, that will have been 40 years since the last time. What has changed? What are the new challenges?
To talk about that, I’m joined by Zev Yaroslavsky. He’s a former Los Angeles County Supervisor and was on the L.A. City Council during negotiations for the 1984 Olympics.
