Get ready because here it comes. Extreme heat that is, the likes of which the Valley has rarely felt.
We’re expected to approach record highs today with 117 forecast for Phoenix. But tomorrow could be the day the thermometer tops 120.
“If we would hit 120, it would be extremely rare because it has only happened four other times in the entire climatological record for Phoenix,” said National Weather service meteorologist Chris Kuhlman.
The worst of the scorching weather will last through Wednesday when temperatures are expected to come close to the 120 mark as well.
Southern Arizona will be a couple of degrees cooler, but also near record highs in Tucson.
Flagstaff hit a new record for Sunday at 92 and could again Monday.
