How Do Universities Respond To 'Hot' New Majors?

High schoolers are putting on graduation caps and gowns around the country right now, and many are looking forward to starting college in the fall.

And then the big question becomes what’s your major?

So we wondered when, for example, there’s a deluge of politics in our culture on a daily basis or, when Russia is in the spotlight, does that affect how students choose their majors?

Are Russian or poli-sci the "hot" new majors? And, once a wave like that hits, how do universities change their offerings to be more attractive to potential students and how do their staff respond?

To shed some light on that, I spoke with Rob Franek, editor in chief of the Princeton Review.
