The Senate version of the American Health Care Act, Republicans’ plan to replace the Affordable Care Act, has been released. The 142-page draft of the bill, which would eliminate much of the Obama health-care law, proposes steep cuts to Medicaid.

Sen. John McCain expressed his concerns over those cuts during a Facebook town hall Thursday, especially since Arizona is a Medicaid expansion state. He said he’ll be in close contact with elected leaders in Arizona because of that.

“So before I come down with a decision on this particular issue, I want to hear from the governor, legislators, and health-care providers in the state of Arizona,” McCain said.

Gov. Doug Ducey has expressed his concerns over potential cuts to Medicaid in the past if and when the bill was passed.

McCain also said he is not supportive of the secretive measures that were taken to write the bill. Many meetings regarding the bill took place behind closed doors and without any public hearings.
