The heat wave that’s been scorching Phoenix has brought record-breaking heat to Tucson, as well. The National Weather Service (NWS) said Tucson reached or exceeded 115 degrees Monday through Wednesday.
Gary Zell, a meteorologist with the NWS Tucson office, said it was the first time ever the city had hit 115 or higher on three consecutive days.
“We did, in ’94, we hit two consecutive days. June 28 and 29t we were 115 and 116, and 1990 was the all-time high of 117," Zell said.
Zell said the hot weather will continue in Tucson in the coming days — though it won’t be quite as hot. Highs around 110 are expected through the weekend. The average highs this time of year are nearly 10 degrees cooler.
