Senate Republicans are calling their plan the “Better Care Reconciliation Act.” We just discussed cuts to Medicaid, but it would also get rid of the mandate that most Americans must have health insurance.
As we know, the bill was written behind closed doors by Senate Republicans and many Americans, including Sen. John McCain, were very vocal about their disapproval of the secretive measures of fellow Senate Republicans on this.
McCain told a town hall on Thursday that he wants to hear from Arizona health-care providers, legislators and Gov. Doug Ducey before he makes up his mind on the proposed bill.
Democratic Congressman Tom O’Halleran said, “The proposed cuts to Medicaid in this bill are going to devastate rural communities in Arizona and disproportionately impact those who can afford it least."
