Heat Is Taking Its Toll On People, Public Resources

It’s been pretty toasty out over the past several days, and the heat has been taking its toll, both on people and on public resources.

With me to talk about both of those perspectives are Chris Castro — an associate professor in the Department of Hydrology and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Arizona who researches climate variability — and Laura Bakkensen, an assistant professor in the UA's School of Government and Public Policy who looks at the human side of extreme weather.

Mark Brodie is a co-host of The Show, KJZZ’s locally produced news magazine. Since starting at KJZZ in 2002, Brodie has been a host, reporter and producer, including several years covering the Arizona Legislature, based at the Capitol.
