Stage II Fire Restrictions Enacted In Southern Arizona

Stage II Fire Restrictions are now in place on state-owned and state-managed land in southern Arizona.

The rules include no campfires (even in developed campsites), no smoking (except in a car or building), and no fireworks. And you can only shoot a gun if you’re hunting. That goes for Cochise, Greenlee, Graham, Pima, Pinal and Santa Cruz counties.

A spokesman with the Arizona the Department of Forestry and Fire Management said the department predicted an active fire season in southern Arizona, and so far that’s proven true.

Since the season started early with the Sawmill Fire in April, more than 100,000 acres have burned in the southern part of the state.
