It’s already been an active fire season in Arizona. Many fires were started naturally by lightning. But, blazes like the Goodwin Fire that burned more than 28,000 acres near Prescott, were expected to be human caused.
Tiffany Davila with the state Forestry Department said all state-owned and state-managed lands are under stage one or two fire restrictions. Under stage one, restrictions include banning the use of campfires and fireworks.
“We want you to have fun. But we also want you to be safe," Davila said. "And we can’t have another wildfire. Our crews are already spread thin across southern and northern Arizona.”
Restrictions also include smoking on state-owned and state-managed lands.
Davila warns that even the smallest spark could cause problems as much of the state is covered in very dry brush.
