Phoenix council members have agreed to sell 7.6 acres of prime downtown real estate. Trammel Crow will pay Phoenix $10 million dollars for city-owned land along Fillmore Street between 4th and 6th Avenues.
Plans call for approximately 659 apartments, 20 townhomes and more than 17,000 square feet of office and retail space.
It’s expected to be built in two phases and the city will reimburse the developer up to $3.1 million for public infrastructure improvements like a new street and walking path.
The original sale was cancelled after a losing bidder complained that Councilman Michael Nowakowski failed to disclose a conflict of interest. He denied any wrongdoing and a review by outside attorneys found no evidence he violated laws. Nowakowski recused himself from voting on the sale.
