Political comedy — or comedy based on current events — is becoming more common and popular. But that doesn’t mean everyone finds it funny or comfortable, especially when it’s part of a night out watching a stand-up.
Controversy hasn’t stopped Hari Kondabolu from challenging his audiences to think about how we view opposing views and a variety of cultures.
When he’s not onstage, Kondabolu co-hosts the podcast "Politically Reactive" with W. Kamau Bell, and he’s behind the documentary, "The Problem with Apu," which will air on truTV later this year.
Tonight, he’s performing at Standup Live in Phoenix. He and I spoke earlier.
