After filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, a children’s clothing retailer announced plans to close hundreds of stores, including nine in Arizona.
The Gymboree Corporation, a mall-based chain, will close four Gymboree stores in Arizona. Their locations include:
Paradise Valley Mall in Phoenix
Outlets at Anthem in Phoenix
SanTan Village in Gilbert
Tucson Mall in Tucson
As part of its court-ordered restructuring process, the retailer will also close five Crazy 8 locations:
Desert Ridge in Phoenix.
Scottsdale Fashion Square in Scottsdale.
Superstition Springs in Mesa.
Chandler Fashion Center.
Tucson Spectrum in Tucson.
Store closing sales will start next week. In all, Gymboree will close a total of 350 of its 1,281 retail stores.
In a written statement, Daniel Griesemer, president and CEO said, “Right-sizing our store footprint is a central part of our efforts to ensure Gymboree emerges from this restructuring process as a stronger and more competitive organization, with greater financial flexibility to invest in our future.”
