Yuma Firefighters Head To California To Help With Detwiler Fire

Yuma firefighters are heading to California to help fight the Detwiler Fire, which has burned more than 70,000 acres and is only 10 percent contained.

Yuma Fire Marshal Kayla Holiman says they received mutual aid request from Cal Fire.

"That fire that is burning close to Lake McClure near the town of Mariposa California and we sent an engine with four of our personnel to assist with that task force," Holman said.

Holiman says the firefighters will work to protect structures that are in the fire’s path. She says the team could be in California for as long as two weeks.
