Shopping malls have been an important part of the Valley for decades — going back to the years when the name Goldwater was associated with politics and department stores.
But as more big-box stores are closing and more consumers are shopping online, malls are having to change what they do.
Steven Totten covers retail for The Phoenix Business Journal. For the current issue, he spoke with local business owners about whether they’d want to stay in — or relocate to — malls.
