Less than one week after announcing he has brain cancer, Arizona Sen. John McCain is headed back to Washington, D.C.
A statement from McCain’s office says he’s going to work on important legislation, including healthcare reform and defense spending. He also plans to take on new sanctions against Russia, North Korea and Iran.
The announcement makes good on a promise McCain gave on social media the day after revealing that doctors found a brain tumor while removing a blood clot from above his left eye.
McCain tweeted,“I greatly appreciate the outpouring of support - unfortunately for my sparring partners in Congress, I'll be back soon, so stand-by!”
Politico has reported that top Republicans hope McCain will cast a key vote to repeal Obamacare.
Look forward to returning to Senate tomorrow to continue work on health care reform, defense bill & #RussiaSanctions https://t.co/VQBtovnwF1
