How Did McCain Shape Trump's Road To The White House?

One of the stalwart voices in the Senate is our own senior Sen. John McCain. He announced last week that he’s been diagnosed with a brain tumor — and the news has sparked reactions of support from both sides of the aisle, including from President Donald Trump, who has not always been McCain’s biggest supporter.

During his campaign, Trump said McCain was “not a war hero” because he had been captured. McCain was held as a prisoner of war in Vietnam and tortured.

Whether he meant to or not, McCain has played an important role in Donald Trump’s path to the White House and throughout his time in office. That's according to Washington Post reporter Amber Phillips, who recently chronicled how their paths have intersected for the Post blog The Fix.
