The Prescott City Council voted to sell Fire Station 7, former home of the Granite Mountain Hotshots, to a local plumbing company.
Nineteen members of the hotshots were killed in the Yarnell Hill Fire in 2013.
Prescott resident Jan Monroe leads the Tribute Fence Preservation Project, which seeks to preserve a memorial to the firefighters. Monroe said the sale of the building is due to a lack of effort to save it.
“I think that the reason that Station 7 is on the selling block is that no one championed for it," Monroe said.
Prescott City Council asked families of the firefighters for a plan to preserve the building before they sold it but no such plan was presented.
