Hundreds of Walgreens employees in the East Valley are being told to move as the drugstore chain plans to relocate jobs and add new ones.
Walgreens says it will move 300 current positions from its pharmacy operations center in Tempe to a new facility in Chandler. The company says the move will also create nearly 191 new jobs that meet or exceed the county’s 2017 median wage. The Arizona Commerce Authority lists the median wage for Maricopa County as $35,760.
Call center agents are expected to join pharmacists and pharmacy technicians at the Chandler facility later this year. The 60,000 square foot facility is located in Chandler’s Price Corridor.
Walgreens says the Tempe location will remain open as a pharmacy mail services support center.
