Good news and bad news for travelers on Interstate 40 west of Williams. A five mile stretch of the eastbound freeway is being rebuilt.
Drivers heading eastbound on I-40 toward Williams and Flagstaff will be diverted to a westbound lane. Arizona Department of Transportation crews will begin rebuilding the eastbound section of highway.
Theses repairs are a long-term fix for the winter-weather damage this stretch has seen through the years.
Crews will continue to repave 12 miles of I-40 in each direction closer to Flagstaff. The work will last through the fall.
