22 National Monument Sites Are Still Under Review

Last Friday, Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke announced that he is not recommending changes to Arizona’s Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument, which is located west of the Grand Canyon.

President Trump ordered review of the 27 national monuments for possible elimination or reduction.

The Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument is the fifth site taken of the list. However, 22 sites, most located in the West, are still under review.

Here in Arizona they include Vermilion Cliffs, Sonoran Desert and Ironwood Forest National Monuments Here to look at the scrutiny western monuments are under is Jennifer Rokala, executive director of the Center for Western Priorities, a nonpartisan conservation and advocacy organization.
