Last week, we told you about a program out of San Quentin prison in California that teaches inmates coding skills and a new web development startup company being launched inside the prison to give them a salary behind bars.

The program, and others like it, are trying to find ways to keep inmates from coming back to prison after they’re released.

Here in Arizona, the Department of Corrections has opened three new job centers in our state’s prison system as part of Gov. Ducey’s goal to tackle the state’s recidivism rate.

And here to tell us more about these programs — and the effect they’re having on inmate’s lives — is Craig Harris with The Arizona Republic.
