And the debate over visas for guest workers also extends to the lettuce fields of Yuma where President Donald Trump is set to appear this morning.
The president will be in the southern Arizona city to talk about immigration enforcement and inspect the Predator drone, but many of those in the agriculture industry there hope he also takes a look at their needs.
According to the Arizona Farm Bureau, Trump is set to meet with some farmers in Yuma today to talk about those concerns.
That’s because there is a shortage of guest workers in their fields, according to our next guest, John Boelts with the Arizona Farm Bureau, who operates Desert Premium Farms in Yuma.
He hopes Congress and the president will consider creating what he calls a real guest worker program that brings in more workers and doesn’t require farmers to go through multiple layers of bureaucracy to do it.
