With the violence at protests in Charlottesville last week, and thousands gathered in the streets of downtown Phoenix last night. So much of our public discussion right now is focused on the use of the First Amendment — our right to the freedom of speech.
But just how far does that right extend? And where does it turn into hate speech?
To talk more about these issues, I spoke with Erwin Chemerinsky. He’s the dean of the Law School at the University of California Berkeley and he recently wrote about these issues on the Berkeley Blog.
