'Megafire' Author Explores Power Of Catastrophic Wildfires

Through mid-August, more than 6 million acres had burned in the United States this year because of wildfires.

The West Coast continues to get hit hard — especially California and Oregon. And wildfire season is expected to get even longer and cause even more destruction as resources — and the land — dry up.

Michael Kodas addresses those concerns and the power of catastrophic wildfires in his new book, "Megafire: The Race to Extinguish a Deadly Epidemic of Flame."

Steve Goldstein was a host at KJZZ from 1997 to 2022.
