CBP Prioritizes Hiring More Agents For Arizona

Arizona’s biggest shipping port of entry has gone understaffed for years.

Under a new initiative, pushed through by Arizona Senator Jeff Flake, Customs and Border Protection will prioritize the hiring of more inspectors specifically for Arizona.

The agency will also try to secure a pay incentive, offering 33 percent more for applicants to take work in Arizona. Right now, working in Arizona grants recruits a 25 percent boost in pay.

CBP will also prioritize the hiring of military service members by accepting physical fitness tests and other basic requirements already completed when applicants worked for the Department of Defense.
