Airlines have begun canceling flights to Florida as Hurricane Irma looms.
American Airlines has cancelled a Friday Phoenix flight to Miami. The hurricane is expected slam into the state and derail more flights operations in the coming days.
Sky Harbor officials warn passengers to check their flight status.
Greg Roybal, a Sky Harbor spokesman says, “People need to be aware that even if they're not flying to Miami or Ft. Lauderdale or Florida in general, weather events in general tend to have a ripple effect.”
Roybal advises passengers to check airlines’ websites for cancellations and delays.
