A powerful earthquake struck just off the coast of Mexico late Thursday night.
Initial reports from the country’s emergency response agency say at least 30 people are dead and more than 100 are injured.
Mexico’s president Enrique Peña Nieto called the magnitude 8.2 earthquake the strongest in a century.
In Chiapas, civil protection officers posted photos to Twitter of evacuations after a tsunami warning was put in place.
The earthquake was felt as far away as Mexico City. The KJZZ Mexico City international business staff are temporarily working from another bureau location after the Tec de Monterrey college campus it is situated in was shuttered as a precaution.
