The news out of the White House Thursday morning was almost Shakespearean: is DACA to be or not to be?
That’s the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals that gave work authorization and deferment of potential deportation to children brought to the U.S. by their parents illegally.
Wednesday night, Associated Press Reporter Jill Colvin and her colleague Erica Werner broke the news that President Trump had agreed with Democratic leaders Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer to “enshrine” the protections of DACA and "the wall would not be any part of this agreement.”
Thursday morning, walk backs started trickling in, with the president saying no deal was done but the parties were close.
So where do the parties stand, just hours after this initial news broke? Colvin is here to fill us in.
