Hurricane Maria is moving through the Caribbean as a Category 5 storm. The region is still dealing with the effects of Hurricane Irma, and the Gulf Coast is trying to recover from Hurricane Harvey.
We wanted to check in on those efforts. So we reached out to Joey Palacios. He's a reporter with Texas Public Radio, based in San Antonio. I reached him on his cell in the Gulf Coast town of Port Aransas and asked him what the town used to be like, and what it’s like now.
As we mentioned, some Caribbean nations are bracing for Hurricane Maria, even as they’re still devastated from Irma.
To get a sense of the relief efforts there, we reached Wayne MacBeth. He's with World Hope International, which is a Christian relief and development agency, and I asked him what he’s seeing, both in terms of need and resources.
