Mesa Warns Residents Of Water-Filter Scam

A private company representing themselves as city of Mesa Water Resources has used its employees to canvass neighborhoods attempting to sell water filters. Salespeople have gone so far as to threaten residents with fines from the city of Mesa if they don’t purchase a filter.

Mesa Water Resources Department spokeswoman Kathy Macdonald said these individuals are not city of Mesa employees because city staff will never try to gain access to one's home or sell a resident goods or services related to their water.

If customers are approached by anyone claiming to represent the city and attempting to sell them filters, Macdonald urges residents to report the incident to the Mesa Police Department at (480) 644-2211.
