Phoenix Children’s Hospital has built an international reputation for providing some of the best pediatric care in the world. But space has been tight. The facility was built to accommodate 22,000 patients a year, but PCH has been serving more than 80,000.
A $40 million expansion will dramatically increase the size of its emergency department and Level 1 pediatric trauma center. That will allow the hospital to serve 100,000 patients annually, and it’s also expected to dramatically increase efficiency — in part by tripling the number of private exam rooms.
To learn more about the impact of the changes, we spoke with Pediatric Surgeon Dr. Kathy van Leeuwen.
