After the devastating earthquake in Mexico, the trade offices of Arizona and Phoenix in Mexico City are trying to help the affected communities.
Like the rest of the inhabitants of Mexico City, the representatives of Arizona and Phoenix experienced the strong earthquake last Tuesday. And they’ve stopped their operations since then and until Monday, not because their offices are damaged, but as they try to help.
“We prepared food to take around to several shelters. We’re gonna keep doing the same things,” said José Andrés García, the City of Phoenix trade representative in Mexico.
García said the Phoenix government is analyzing ways to send help, either goods or human resources.
Natalia Pérez is the Director of the Arizona Trade and Investment Office in Mexico. She and her staff have been helping several aid centers and support brigades.
“We are very thankful for all the messages of concern and solidarity that we have received from the people in Arizona. Mexico will really appreciate all the help you can send,” Perez said.
The director invites Arizonans to contact her if they are looking for ways to help Mexico.
For her, solidarity after the sad event can help strengthen the ties between Mexico and Arizona.
