Sammy "The Bull” Gravano, the notorious Mafia hitman, has been locked up in an Arizona prison for the last 17 years. But earlier this week, he was released early.
The Arizona Department of Corrections told The Arizona Republic that he faces lifetime parole.
Gravano was mob boss John Gotti's secondhand man until he took a plea deal from the FBI and helped convict Gotti and other top mob figures. He’s been in prison in Arizona for running an ecstasy ring in the state in the late-90s.
Here to tell us more about this infamous Arizona figure is Alan Feuer, who covers courts and criminal justice for the New York Times.
