How Is Houston Coping With Hurricane Recovery?

It’s only been five weeks since Hurricane Harvey ravaged Houston and the surrounding region, dumping more than 40 inches of rain on some areas causing catastrophic flooding.

Since then, the county has seen disasters hit South Florida and Costa Rica, but how is the nation’s fourth-largest city coping with the recovery?

In the weeks since the storm, there has been a lot of environmental fallout as the EPA confirmed fears that the San Jacinto Waste Pits were damaged and are leaking toxic chemicals into the watershed, and the city has grappled with the question of whether some homeowners should be able to rebuild in flood-prone areas.

I caught up with Lise Olsen, investigative reporter with the Houston Chronicle, earlier this morning to get an update on what’s happening on the ground in Texas.
