According to Las Vegas law enforcement and government officials, 59 people have died and more than 520 are injured after a gunman fired on nearly 22,000 concertgoers along the Las Vegas Strip on Sunday night.

The city’s mayor, Carolyn Goodman, commended the heroic first responders, saying their efficiency and preparation saved thousands of lives.

"The fact that our first responders and law enforcement acted so quickly, so professionally and tended to the need right then and there and were able to get up into the Mandalay Bay in four minutes is simply an incredible feat," Goodman said.

Police searched the gunman’s home in Mesquite, Nevada, and have since learned of a second property up north. Officials say a SWAT team is headed that way.
