Funds to support the victims of the Las Vegas shooting are nearing $10 million. Officials are now working on a plan to actually begin distributing the money.
Local officials are directing anyone who wants to donate money to a GoFundMe account set up by Clark County Commission Chair Steve Sisolak.
Sisolak’s staff set up the account just hours after the shooting was reported. According to the account, so far nearly 75,000 people have contributed to the fund.
"When you look at this overall you have people that lost spouses. Kids that don’t have parents anymore. And a lot of people are going to need surgeries for years to come. So we want to be here to help with that," Sisolak said.
Sisolak explained the plan now is to set up a 501(c)(3) to oversee distribution.
